Hello, I’ve Waited Here For You…

I was thinking about my favorite songs of all-time the other day and I came up with this list as my Top 5, in no particular order…

Hysteria by Def Leppard
One by U2
Drive by The Cars
Everlong by Foo Fighters

Well, maybe the Top 4.  Adding a final song into that Top 5 is a little hard for me.  Some of the possibilities might be Rock of Ages (Def Leppard again), Back in Black (AC/DC), Intersate Love Song (Stone Temple Pilots) and probably a Van Halen song (Diamond Dave era).  What are some of your favorite songs of all-time?

FastStone Image Viewer - Free Download

If you’re looking for a great image viewer and editor, check out the FastStone Image Viewer.   It’s one of the wonderful and free pieces of software available on the Internet.

One of the coolest features in my mind is the ability to make a musical slideshow.  Take a group of pictures, put your favorite AC/DC tune behind it (or perhaps some Tim McGraw, whatever your taste) and impressive your friends and family.

If the FastStone Image Viewer sounds like something for you, you can download it for free from our friends at MajorGeeks.com.

American Idol - The Season Four Rematch

Carrie Underwood - Carnival RideHere’s a little Idol irony for my fellow American Idol addicts.  It seems that the two finalists who battled for the Idol title in Season Four are up against each other again - but two years later, the contest isn’t nearly as close as it was then.

Season Four winner Carrie Underwood and runner-up Bo Bice both have albums out this week - and both are much anticipated follow-ups to their hit debut discs.  Yes, calling Bo’s debut CD a “hit” might be a stretch, but Bo did have moderate success on MTV and radio with his single “The Real Thing” - not even close to being the best track on that CD, but I am getting off track…

And Carrie - well, her first record went 6x platinum, making her a genuine crossover success, a la Shania Twain.  If Carrie’s new CD “Carnival Ride” sells as well, Shania might be shining up her country crown to pass along to young Carrie.  I bet Mutt Lange would have something to say about that.

Bo Bice - See The LightAs for Bo, I hear he has a new band, and has returned to his musical roots on the new disc, which is called “See The Light“, and it is only available at Wal-Mart and iTunes.

So if you had to choose all over again - who would be your favorite Season Four Idol?  If you need a little help deciding, you can watch both new music videos for their latest singles at Yahoo! Music:

Onion Rings

Apparently David Chase has now decided to “spill the beans” on the cryptic ending of his much acclaimed television series, The Sopranos.

Or not.

In a newly published book called `The Sopranos’: The Complete Book, Chase is denying the presence of any hidden meaning in the unexpected and David Chasemysterious final scene of the series, saying “There are no esoteric clues in there. No ‘Da Vinci Code’.”  I am not so sure I believe him, but you can read more of the story here.  Why don’t I believe him?  Look at this photo – tell me that isn’t an expression of a man hiding something…

A few of us on the Jenkat crew find the ending riveting - and I can’t tell you how many times TC and I discussed and dissected the ending.  The obvious conclusion to me has always been that Tony’s “fade to black” represented his sudden death… what do you think?  We have posted the video below - and believe it or not, there is no over the top language, violence or adult content in this scene… rather rare form for The Sopranos.

AVG Free Edition - Anti-Virus Software

These days you definitley need an anti-virus software and our favorite by far is AVG’s Free Edition Anti-Virus software.  While there are paid versions, I credit AVG for looking out for all of us by providing a free version as well.

I’ve used the Norton stuff in the past, yet I got tired of all the extra crap they install and the bloat that it creates on your computer.  AVG is quick and easy.  You can set it up to scan your system nightly, download updates and even scan your incoming and outgoing e-mail.  To paraphase Ian Gillian from Deep Purple singing Highway Star, “I love it, I need it,” and so will you.

Check out the free version and download if you like from our friends at MajorGeeks.com - Our favorite tech website.

When You Close Your Eyes

On Labor Day this year, myself and Jovi headed up to Denver to check out a band that she had never seen and that I hadn’t seen in 23 years.  That band was Night Ranger.  The original core is still there, for the most part - Brad Gillis, Kelly Keagy and Jack Blades.   I have to admit, Jack Blades is a great entertainer and I was really impressed with the band.  They looked and sounded great.

Rockies & the Red Sox

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox on coming back from a 3 - 1 games deficeit and beating the Indians on Sunday night.  Now the redhot Colorado Rockies come to town in their first World Series appearance.

Living in Colorado, that means Jenkat will be rooting the Rockies, but best of luck to both teams.
