TC’s MLB Predictions

MLB.comYeah, this is a little out of the realm of Jenkat, but I love baseball so much I wanted to give you my picks for 2008.  This is a traditional I’ve done with a friend of mine for the last who-knows-how-long, so I figured I’d make it official and post it here on Jenkat.

Plus, with all these “baseball experts” it seems they always pick the same teams for the new season that won the previous season, nevermind the “experts” didn’t pick the teams that won last season.  Goofballs.

Here’s my picks:

AL East Winner:  New York Yankees
AL Central Winner:  Chicago White Sox
AL West Winner: Seattle Mariners
AL Wildcard:  Tampa Bay Rays (yeah, you read that right - they’re my surprise team in ‘08)

NL East Winner: New York Mets
NL Central Winner: Milwauke Brewers
NL West Winner: Los Angeles Dodgers
NL Wildcard: Arizona Diamondbacks

AL Cy Young: Rich Harden, Oakland
NL Cy Young: Ben Sheets, Milwaukee

NL MVP: Richie Sexson, Seattle
NL MVP: Prince Fielder, Milwaukee

World Series:  Seattle over Milwaukee

* I should declare that I’m actually a Twins fan and as much as I’d like to pick them to win, I think the White Sox will win that division over the Indians and Tigers.  The Sox have a lot of free agents after this year and money is a heck of a motivator!

I.Q. Identity Quest Download Game

I.Q. Identity Quest Download GameSo I think the two dollar question here is whether I.Q. in I.Q. Identity Quest stands for Identity Quest or Intelligence Quotient - Lets hope its the latter.  So what is I.Q. Identity Quest?  Well, its a new casual game from our friend at Oberon.  Specifically, it’s a puzzle game where you test your IQ (Identity Quest?) to solve puzzles and finally realize how smart you really are.  It goes without saying that you know you’re sexy, so we don’t need a game to find that out - Or do we? :)

If you have some time this week, I would recommend you give the game a try and test your IQ!

Slick Deal: MLB Caps $10

MLB Caps $10Our friends at Amazon.com are offering Major League Baseball (MLB) caps for $10 as part of a Opening Day celebration for the 2008 baseball season.  In fact, I believe Opening Day in MLB should be a National Holiday!

They actually have some great caps available, including some retro 1970’s caps available.  For me, I’d definitely buy a Twins cap, and probably Brewers and Cardinals caps.

Check out the deal right here.

The Clark Brothers to Appear on American Idol Next Week

Don’t know who these guys are?  Well, don’t feel bad, most people don’t, as their claim to fame is winning a reality talent show that nobody watched.

That show was The Next Great American Band, which aired last summer on the FOX Network.  I watched this show the whole way through, in spite of the fact that most of the bands in the competition stank on ice!  My boyfriend Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls was a judge, after all.  *sigh*  The Clark Brothers were definitely a shining exception, and I predicted they would win from the get-go.  And they did!

The point of all this?  Well, according to a FOX press release, they will be performing on American Idol next week.  While I am not a huge fan of bluegrass and country music, I loooove Dolly, and The Clark Brothers can really PLAY.  Plus, they are pretty;)   Check the evidence below:

A side note:  I noticed Clark brother Austin playing dobro during Chikezie’s performance last week - so he must have a “day job” with Rickey Minor’s band.

American Idol - The Top Ten

Yo yo yo, kats!  So what’s goin’ on, you feelin’ ah-ight?

Sorry I didn’t get any American Idol related blogging done this week - I had family in town for Easter, and go figure… I guess family won out in the end.  Only because it was Easter and everyone got along for once.  ;)

I did catch the Idol shows this week, and truthfully, I wasn’t surprised to see Chikeze sent home.  Maybe it’s time he thought about getting that last name back, eh?  His exit was kind of a bummer for me - I liked Chikezie.  His voice was rich and yummy, but I think his defensive attitude with the judges (especially this week) hurt him in the end.  It could have been the end of the road for any of the bottom three this week.

Dolly PartonSpeaking of Chikezie, it’s kind of a shame he’s out, because I think he would have done something amazing next week.  The word on the street is that the Idols will be given their first mentorship of the season by none other than the fantastic Dolly Parton.  She is an ICON, and I can’t wait!

It should be interesting to hear the Idols take on Dolly Parton songs, since her music really isn’t in the vocal wheelhouse of any of the contestants, except for MAYBE Kristy Lee Cook.  And that is pushing it, as Dolly typically sings every note in tune.  Kristy - not so much.  ;)

Anyway, I will be back with my reviews next week - have a great weekend!

Sprill: The Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle Download Game

Sprill: The Mystery of the Bermuda TriangleAnother new title in the long list of casual games here at Jenkat arrives today with the release of Sprill: The Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.  Yep, it’s a hidden-object game, yet unlike so many other games in that genre these days, the game seems to have a very fresh look with lots of color and light.  I’ve always liked that in a game.

Sprill will send you on an adventure to help find boats and planes that have disappeared in the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.  Is there something paranormal or even extraterrestrial beings lurking in the waters?  You’re about to find out!

Fishing Craze Download Game

Fishing Craze Download GameAnother new casual game at Jenkat Games, this times its a genre close to our hearts - Treasure Hunting.  It all started with the Gold Miner series that we created while we were at MySpace.  After going out on our own and creating Jenkat, one of our first games was Finders Keepers, which continued the trend of great treasure hunting games.  Now comes Fishing Craze, and while not exactly like Finders Keepers, it seems to have been inspired by it.

In Fishing Craze, the object of the game is to catch as many fish as possible.  You drop your line, but unlike other treasure hunting games, this time the boat can still move resulting in your fishing line always in motion.  Once you catch what you want, the fish is reeled in and then hurled into the air where you have to position your boat to catch the fish.  The game is much more frantic than Finders Keepers, but in the end provides some quality entertainment.
