Coming Soon: Love Letters

Coming later this week is a brand new online game from your friends at Jenkat Games called Love Letters. The game will feature two difficulty levels: Normal and Expert. Love Letters is a different type of word game that you probably have played in the past. I don’t know how to describe it, but you’ll figure it out immediately and hopefully you’ll enjoy it.

The game also features a very fun bonus round where you have to figure out which letter does not belong. The faster you are, the bigger bonus score you’ll get. Oh, and I almost forgot that you’ll be able to earn power-ups during the bonus round of Love Letters.

The Love letters game launches soon only at JenkatGames.com

Jencat is Jenkat

Jencat is Jenkat.  Jencat Games is Jenkat Games.  So why did we name the website Jenkat Games instead of Jencat Games?  That’s a long, but interesting story that I’ll tell you some day.  However, for the moment we just wanted to make sure you knew that Jencat is Jenkat.

So if you’re ever searching for us and type in Jencat instead of Jenkat, hopefully that will trigger a reminder of this.

Jenkat on MySpace

Hi kats!  We thought you might be interested in knowing that Jenkat Games has a profile on MySpace, and we would love to have you add us as a friend.  Click HERE to view our MySpace profile.

Also, we are running a little contest… if you would like to be on in our Top 10, send us a comment with your score for Scrambled Eggs - the first ten people that leave a comment with their score will be added to our Top 10 friends!

For those of you that are new to the site, here is a tip to quickly share your top game scores, and challenge others to beat your score on Jenkat.  On every game page, if you scroll down below the game window, you will see the ”My Jenkat” area.  If you click on the “Friends” tab, you can copy a short snippet of code to post your score on MySpace, your blog, or any social networking site of your choice.  See the example below:

Scrambled Eggs

Pretty cool, huh?  Have fun taunting your friends!  :)

Top 10 Scores Method Updated

We’ve updated the method we use for Top 10 scores for our online games like Finders Keepers, Discombobulated and the rest.  The Top 10 scores are now based off the best score for each user.  In the past, the Top 10 was the highest score for any user, so essentially the same person could have the 10 best scores.

We debated this quite a while before making the change.  The example is jaciess, who has proved to be the best Finder Keepers player on the planet.  She was dominating the Top 10, but now only has the #1 score with the change.  We could see where jaciess might be a little disappointed about the change, but one of the things we’ll be doing going forward to highlighting the best players on Jenkat Games here on the blog and on the Sweet Spot (located on the front page of the website).

In addition, we’re furiously working on our profile section and one of the neat features will be see where you rank in total Winks earned on the website, as well as for each game.  You’ll be able to see your rank against everyone or just your friends.  We’ll keep you updated on how were doing with the new profile section and Phase II of Jenkat Games.  I can’t give you a launch date right now, but as soon as I can I will.

Thanks for your continued support of Jenkat Games!

UPDATE: Finders Keepers Web Game Bug

Regarding the Finders Keepers bug we blogged about last week - it appears that we misunderstood how the scoring works, and our game programmer has been kind enough to explain to us that this is actually not a bug - just a lapse in communication.

We apologize that the objective and scoring for this level was not explained as clearly as it should have been.  At this time we will not be fixing the current online version, as this problem will soon be irrelevant, when we release the new online version of the game (announced here a couple of days ago), called Finders Keepers: The Bahamas.

In the meantime, here is an explanation from our programmer:

That “bug” on the last of level of Finder’s Keepers isn’t actually a bug.  Here is the description for the level objective - ”Rescue the polar bears. Score $500 for each polar bear that safely makes it to the end of the level.”

There are a total of 4 polar bears on that level that can be rescued - meaning you can only score a maximum of $2000 for that level if ALL 4 polar bears make it to the end of the level.  You don’t get points each time you rescue a polar bear, you only get points if that polar bear is still on the ice sheet at the end of the level.

If you catch a polar bear 10 times but you only have 2 polar bears remaining on the ice sheets at the end of the level, you would get $1000 (2×500). You wouldn’t get $5000 (10X500).

I hope this helps, as this scoring and objective information does apply to the download version, as well.  If you have any more questions or comments, please feel free to contact Jenkat support.

Finders Keepers: The Bahamas - Coming Soon

Very soon we’ll be launching a new online version of Finders Keepers.  If you love the North Pole levels, that’s great news.  However, those levels will be going away for a while with the release of the Bahamas version of the game.

Why are we doing this?  We like to mix things up and want to show you another part of the download game.  One of the benefits of the new version is that we’ll be increasing the size of the game from 550×400 to 640×480, so your gameplay experience will be that much better.

If you miss the North Pole levels, I’d encourage you to download the free trial of the Finders Keepers download version.  Plus, you can also play the Titantic and Atlantis levels in that version.

Thanks for your continued support!

Finders Keepers Web Game Bug

Happy New Year, Finders Keepers fans!

BugJust a quick post to update you about a bug that has “reared it’s head” in the Finders Keepers online game.  In the final level of the game, quite often the number of rescued polar bears caught seems to not be adding up and scoring correctly.  For example, if you rescue 5 polar bears, only 3 are counted.  We apologize for the bug, and want you to know that our game programmer is now working to correct this, and we hope to have a new version online (with said bug fixed) in the next couple of days.

Thanks to Leigh for bringing this to our attention, and thanks to all of you for your patience!  We will be sure to post an update here once the new version is live.  :)

Jenkat Games New Years Resolutions

Obviously, the most important is to be happy.  Back in 1998, I figured out the meaning of the life was to be happy.  Not that much of a brain buster, but sometimes we don’t realize how simple things really are when it comes to life.

1. Profile section where you can view your stats and winks, along with your friends and a couple of other cool features.

2.  More online games.  It’s all about online games in our mind and we’ll be delivering the goods.

3.  Spread the word.  If you enjoy the site, we’d really appreciate it if you told your friends and family about JenkatGames.com.  We pride ourselves on being a safe place for game fans of all ages.

Of course, we have some other stuff up our sleeves and we’ll be revealing more stuff as the year progresses.  Thank you for all your support so far and for a wonderful December - We’re glad that you really liked the Santa Express and Finders Keepers.

The Santa Express Game

Jenkat Games today announced the release of The Santa Express in time to spread some holiday cheer among fans of online arcade-style games. The Santa Express is a free online casual game where players help Santa with his Christmas deliveries.News Image

As the classic Christmas song goes, Santa “knows if you’ve been bad or good.” This Christmas, Santa will make his deliveries of presents for good little boys and girls and lumps of coal for naughty children with the help of The Santa Express - his souped-up sleigh fully-equipped with turbo boosters to help him through the Christmas rush.

“The holidays are when we all get to be kids again and enjoy the lighter side of life,” said Malcolm Michaels, co-founder of Jenkat Media. “The Santa Express is a free online game where players of all ages can get into the Christmas spirit, whether during a short work break or playing as a family. Because The Santa Express can be played online for free, players can take a little bit of holiday cheer with them no matter where they go.”

In addition to their latest casual free online game in The Santa Express, Jenkat offers a number of downloadable games for purchase, including the recently-released Finders Keepers (an underwater, arcade-style, treasure-hunting game) as holiday gift ideas for casual gamers.

Finders Keepers Official Announcement

Finders KeepersJenkat Games has announced the release of Finders Keepers (http://www.jenkatgames.com/download/Finders-Keepers/), an underwater arcade-style game.

Finders Keepers features Floyd Finders and his trusty, one-eyed sidekick, Goldie the Cat, who collect treasure, schools of fish, holiday-themed items and special trinkets. Along the way, you will meet friends that can offer you help — for a price. Watch out for adversaries, like pirates, ghosts and mythical creatures that will challenge you as you search through enchanted waters. Using a trap line that slowly swings back and forth like a pendulum, gamers are awarded money for each unique item that is reeled in. Finders Keepers takes gamers through hundreds of fun-filled levels, including the North Pole, Northern Lights, Bahamas, Deadman’s Cay, Above Titantic, Inside Titanic and the hidden city of Atlantis, all in hopes of retrieving the coveted treasures.

“There are very few casual games on the market today that appeal to both parents and grandparents, as well as their young children, so we felt a game like Finders Keepers would be the perfect kid-friendly game for the entire family,” said Malcolm Michaels, Co-Founder of Jenkat. “We became inspired by the tremendous success of other family-friendly, hit games that we have created. With Finders Keepers, we wanted to build the first in a series of next-generation game titles that utilize a unique game mechanic that goes beyond the traditional hidden object and time management genres so prevalent today.”

The downloadable PC and online versions of Finders Keepers are available now at Jenkat Games (http://www.jenkatgames.com/online/). Gamers can play a quick game or involve themselves for hours with three different play modes, including “Finders” (Story Mode), “Keepers” (Score Attack) and “Two-Player.” Annually, Jenkat Games plans to release a new game chronicling the new adventures of the main character, Floyd Finders.
