The Return Of Ricky G

Since the last episode of Extras aired on HBO (and for the second viewing on my DVD player), I have been pining away for anything from my personal king of comedy, Ricky Gervais.  If you have never seen an episode of the original BBC version of The Office or Extras – I suggest you get these series added to your Netflix queue posthaste!

Anyway, I am happy to report that Ricky is starring in a movie (finally!!) called Ghost Town, and it will arrive in theaters on September 19th.  I never have the patience to see movies on opening day anymore, but I adore Ricky so much, I am not sure I will be able to wait for this one.

The trailer is out now – and I found it amusing, with limitless comedic potential.  Okay, maybe I am getting carried away, but I love Ricky.  Take it.  ;)   Check out the trailer, and tell me if you agree:

The Return of Mrs. G

facts-of-life.jpgChildren of the 80’s, I think you will all agree with me that no televison star from that era is more worthy of a career resurgence than our favorite housekeeper/boarding school mother figure - Charlotte Rae.  And, she is back with a vengeance, i.e., a promoted movie role:

‘Mrs. Garrett’ teaches Adam Sandler character facts of life

Spoiler alert!!!

Mrs. G as a cougar?  I haven’t even had dinner yet, but it already feels like dessert has been served… and then, came back up in my mouth a little bit.  Good on you, Mr. Sandler!

Now if only someone with comedic influence in Hollywood would offer up a comeback vehicle for Ms. Rae’s Facts of Life co-star, Blair Warner’s dear cousin Geri… she wasn’t too shabby on HBO’s Deadwood.

Classic Scene: Almost Famous

I’m sure Jovi could tell you all about how wonderful a movie Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous is - I’ve heard it might be her all-time favorite.  For right now though, I want to concentrate in one of the best movie scenes put on film.

After a band fight and a night of partying, lead guitarist Russell (Billy Crudup) rejoins the band (the fictious Stillwater) back on the tour bus.  Lead singer Jeff Bebe (Jason Lee from My Name is Earl) and the rest of the band are not happy.  The groupies lead by Penny Lane (Kate Hudson) are in a malaise as well.  Journalist William Miller (Patrick Fugit), playing a role inspired by the true life of Cameron Crowe as a teenager, needs to get home.

Whether its a little touchy, feely to say this:  Music makes everything better!

First Indiana Jones 4 Trailer

The first Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer has been released as a nice little Valentine’s Day gift for everyone. It’s available at Yahoo’s movie site in standard definition and high definition. The movie looks great, and I think everyone here at Jenkat is looking forward to May 22nd.

If you’re looking for some more Indy info, another good site is the official Indiana Jones site. They have the trailer as well, but they also have a number of older videos related to the first three movies. It’s interesting to see Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford as they were over 25 years ago. One warning: turn down your speakers before you visit the site, the Indiana Jones theme plays quite loudly in the background.
