Star Wars According to a 3-Year-Old

Another cute kid today, this time this 3-year-old girl explains Star Wars.  “The shiney guy worries a lot.”  He sure does little girl, he sure does.

American Idol - The James Lewis Audition

Hey Idol-izers!

I didn’t get time to write up my recap of this week’s Result’s show this afternoon, so I hope you will check this space over the weekend to read my Idol (or is it Idle?) babble.

Until then, here is a video of my favorite Season 7 rejected contestant - James Lewis.  The Idol fan community is all abuzz about how all the women my age want to adopt David Archuleta.  I adore David, but if I had my ‘druthers, I would take James home to be my honey bun, sugar plum, pumbie-umbie-umpkin.  What great times we would share, discussing politics and Paul Robeson after dinner… then I would tuck him into bed, and hum Pearl Jam songs as he fell asleep.

Speaking of sleep, I think I need some.  Here’s a giggle for ya.  :)

First Indiana Jones 4 Trailer

The first Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer has been released as a nice little Valentine’s Day gift for everyone. It’s available at Yahoo’s movie site in standard definition and high definition. The movie looks great, and I think everyone here at Jenkat is looking forward to May 22nd.

If you’re looking for some more Indy info, another good site is the official Indiana Jones site. They have the trailer as well, but they also have a number of older videos related to the first three movies. It’s interesting to see Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford as they were over 25 years ago. One warning: turn down your speakers before you visit the site, the Indiana Jones theme plays quite loudly in the background.

Extreme Biker Video

A friend forwarded this video to me yesterday - maybe I am turning to a cynic in the age of the World Wide Web - but I just can’t believe this guy is for real!  My disbelief probably stems from the fact that my athletic agility equals that of a soggy pancake (Mmm, pancakes!)… plus, I usually only see stunts of this caliber in video games.

My opinion is that this clip has to be edited, but give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Schruted Not Stirred

Since it is Thursday night and I should be watching The Office right now, but thanks to the writer’s strike I cannot - I thought this clever little clip would tide me over for now.  If you take your workplace comedy straight-up with a splash of spy adventure, this trailer is for you!

We Approve This Message For Ch-Ch-Change

In honor of US President George W. Bush’s farewell State of the Union speech tonight, we thought it would be fun to poke a little fun at those competing for the chance to deliver this very address in 2009.  I am guessing that if you follow politics at all, by now you must be feeling like I do, now that United States has entered full-on election season.  Me?  I am just a little fed up with the all the politcal bickering and backbiting.  This past week hasn’t been especially pretty, and Super Tuesday is still a week away!

As a voter, it isn’t easy to filter through all the promises and pandering and hair primping and baby kissing and flip-flopping and spinning that happens on the campaign trail, so we thought you might enjoy this clever little montage of the 2008 presidential candidates and their platform summaries.  We think you will find it, well… more of the same old, same old.

Send in the clowns…  ;)

Sweet Connie

If you have been reading this blog lately, you have probably come to the realization that we are pretty addicted to American Idol around here.  Our devotion to the show is deeply rooted in our (okay my) crush on Simon Cowell, who’s direct and accurate judgements make even the most annoying auditions watchable.

In honor of it being Tuesday (known as Idol Tuesday at the Jovi casa), we are going to flash back to one of Simon’s more sentimental moments.  Didn’t know he had any?  Well, me neither - which makes this all the more heartwarming.

This clip is from another talent competition Simon judges in the UK called Britain’s Got Talent.  Watch as Simon the Terrible’s heart of stone melts like squeezable butter as he is charmed by six year old Connie Talbot singing “Over The Rainbow”.  Guaranteed, your heart will melt, too.  :)

To Wii or not to Wii?

I am thinking… maybe not.  Especially after seeing this clip:

Over The McPheever

Looks like another Idol finalist has been released from their post-Idol recording contract.  The latest Idol to be set free is Katharine McPhee - the stunning brunette that left the massive Idol audience in shock when her performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” propelled her past fan favorites Chris Daughtry (4th place) and Elliott Yamin (3rd place) to take the runner up trophy in Season 5.

Looks like Chris and Elliott get the last laugh, though.  Both are still signed, and have had radio airplay - hits, even.  Plus, Chris’ band Daughtry has sold more than 3 million copies, and the momentum should continue into the new year as they open for Bon Jovi in 2008.

I actually voted for Katharine during Season 5, as I truly thought she was the most gifted vocalist.  As a fan of hers, I was a little confused by the direction of her debut album, as it seemed really far off from the music she made her mark with on Idol.  I t seemed to me that she had a hard time finding who she was musically in the competition, and that carried through into her album.  With her looks, she is probably better suited to acting, anyway.  Time will tell.

Here is the one decent song off her debut, called “Over It”.  Not horrible, but not exactly Kelly Clarkson caliber pop music…

Color us excited: Indiana Jones 4 Movie Poster Unveiled

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Movie Poster There is some disagreement on this matter here at Jenkat, but the majority of us (TC excluded) are pretty excited for the new Indiana Jones movie. The new movie, titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is scheduled for release on May 22nd, 2008. Sure, Harrison Ford is sixty something, but he’s still looking good, although the verdict is still out on his earrings… anyways… Today, they released the first movie poster.

What we’re inferring from the poster is that they’re not trying to reinvent the wheel with the movie. If you look at this posting on FirstShowing.net (scroll down a little bit) you’ll see that the new movie poster is very similar to the previous one. We take this as a good thing.

The USA Today has some more tidbits on the movie. Now, these are hardly spoilers, but if you don’t want to read any inside info about the movie you may want to skip over this bit.

When last we saw Indy, he was riding off into the sunset in 1989’s The Last Crusade, set in 1938 near the start of World War II. The new movie, due this spring, is set at the height of the Cold War in 1957, so the character has aged in real time — 19 years.

The Nazis are no longer Indy’s chief foe — he’s racing for the Crystal Skull against operatives from the Soviet Union, including Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as the seductive Agent Spalko. “Indy always has a love-hate relationship with every woman he ever comes in contact with,” Marshall says.

So that’s that. I’ve got May 22nd circled on the calendar. Thankfully, the Sex and the City movie doesn’t come out until May 30th, so there will be no quarreling over which movie to see first ;)
