Jovi’s Java List

Love of CoffeeYesterday I posted a blurb here about McDonald’s and their recently announced quest to take on coffee magnate Starbucks by adding full service coffee bars to their restaurants.  This inspired me to make a list of my Top 5 coffee brands, and thought I would share it here in hopes that readers of this blog will be inspired to comment with your favorites, as well.  Taste testing is the best part of being a coffee connoisseur, so I need your feedback so I can try them all!  ;)

Let’s get right to it.  Here is my best of the best list when it comes to java:

#5: Dunkin’ Donuts - Who would have thought that “Time to make the donuts!” would turn into “Time to brew the coffee!”  Can you believe that Dunkin’ Donuts coffee brand has become popular enough to warrant an online subscription?  I’ll admit, their Dunkin’ Decaf delights me - especially with a fresh glazed donut on the side… they are PERFECTION.

#4: McDonald’s Premium Roast - There isn’t much I go for on the McDonald’s breakfast menu, but their coffee is an exception.  Rich and delicious, there isn’t another fast food restaurant who’s coffee can compare in my book.  Always hot and fresh tasting, and they will even add the cream and low calorie sweetener for you, if you like!

#3: Starbucks - Also very convenient… well, most of the time.  Every now and then, that drive-thru line in my neighborhood Starbucks can be ten cars long!  My guess is that these coffee consumers are seeking a Caffè Mocha - a sugar junkie’s java bliss, in my book.  So sweet and yummy, no pastry needed!  And during the holidays, the Peppermint Mocha is a fine choice, as well!

#2: Boca Java - After hearing several commercials on the radio for this company this past year, I decided to order a few different varieties as Christmas gifts.  Let me tell you - this stuff did NOT disappoint!  I have never brewed coffee at home that tasted so fresh… this coffee is top notch!  They offer an impressive variety of flavors, and they even donate a portion of their profits to the US Troops.  My recommendation is to try the Boca Mocha Java or Merry Mistletoe flavors.  JAVA HEAVEN!

and #1: Seattle’s Best - I first tried this coffee in a very quaint little restaurant when I visited downtown Seattle in 2006, and I haven’t had a better cup of coffee before or since.  It truly put Starbucks to shame.  It was so good, it made me imagine that I was sitting in Europe, in some very elegant and proper cafe.  It was divine.  If you have never tried a cup, please take my word and head to your nearest Borders books store and relax with a good book, and a Seattle’s Best beverage of your choice.

Now, it is your turn to speak up and let me know where I have it wrong.  Share your favorite coffee brand or beverage by commenting below!
